is anybody out there?

i know you could be asking the same thing of me. in defense of my absence from the blog over the past 15 days, i submit the following:

1. i'm now in my late 20s and am getting a little forgetful
2. i went to new york to visit grad schools
3. i decided on a grad school (columbia! yay!) and got so excited and flustered that all other thoughts flew right out of my head
4. i have to re-write my climate change article for about the 18th time
5. since getting back from new york last wednesday, i've had a social event every single evening (except sunday which i spent in a stupor on the couch recuperating from the previous three evenings)
6. my liver hurts a little bit
7. it FINALLY stopped raining
8. i haven't managed to knit ANYTHING in the past 15 days. literally not one stitch.
9. the man sitting across from me is eating his quiche in the most peculiar manner (okay, okay ... that's not really a reason in defense of my absence ... but the man just performed surgery on his quiche. that's weird.)

anyhoo, i'm back! yay! rejoice, rejoice! hallelujah!

the past two weeks have been a little bit of a whirlwind - wheeeeeeeeeeeeee! i told work yesterday that i'm not coming back - yay! it's sunny - whoopee! it stays light until 7:30 - yippeeee! i'm taking the whole month of july off of work - yahoo!

so yeah, i'm back. but i ask you - where's maggie? i mean, i know what she's going to say:

1. her internet doesn't work when it's raining
2. her parents are in town (not so much of a defense when one of said parents is the infamous superbon, also a missing contributor from the blog)
3. she's been swimming in pearls

but that's all i can come up with ... so mags, no more excuses. we want you back in action.

moving on up

i'm realizing that my last post may have been just ever-so-slightly depressing.

i mean, i was a smidge depressed when i wrote it. but since then, things have really started to look up for ole c-dawg:

1. i finished my global warming article

2. i'm beginning to realize that the guy i spent part of wednesday (fine. most of wednesday. details, people, details.) shedding tears over really isn't worth my time anyway

3. i finished the front of the skinny sweater

4. i turned 27 (i'm not sure if this is officially a "looking up" event but i'm really trying to view getting older through a glass-half-full lens)

5. I GOT IN TO COLUMBIA JOURNALISM SCHOOL (this is the bit that i'm super duper excited about)

6. the woman i wrote the global warming article for emailed me back and said it was very well done and she just has a few small edits for me

7. because of item #6, it looks like i am very, very close to having my very, very first piece of writing published. in print. for real. (okay, okay ... it's not technically in print because it's just on-line. but i bet can get a print copy for anyone who wants one (it's called pressing the print button on my browser). don't all clamor at once)

8. i had a wonderful, fabulous birthday party with my wonderful, fabulous friends who i am going to miss dreadfully when i move to new york (i have to keep saying that i'm moving to new york so it starts to sound more real)

9. maggie gave me a ball winder

10. i'm going to new york this coming weekend, and i'll get to see my fam

so there. yay life!
